Plova Chewing Gum - Branding and Packaging Design
After creating the logo for Plova Chewing Gum and helping establish their style, font choices, and colors, I created packaging for Plova. Working closely with their team, I designed 2 piece gum packs, a small box that holds 12 packs of gum. and a larger box that hold 48 packs of gum and that cuts out into a display box.

Plova Chewing Gum is a start-up company based out of San Antonio, Texas. Plova has invented and developed a new oral care product in the form of a chewing gum. Through the use of FDA approved active ingredients, the gum is formulated to whiten one’s teeth, help reduce plaque, and prevent gingivitis.
The name Plova derives from the the Egyptian Plover,a bird that cleans out Nile crocodile’s mouths by picking out food stuck in the crocodile’s teeth. I was first approached by the Plova team to help them create a logo using the idea of this bird. Aside from the bird, the team also wanted to use colors that called to mind "freshness" and "clean". After various rounds of brainstorming, a logo was created.
In creating this logo I helped establish the colors, fonts, and overall style used in the rest of Plova's designed pieces. Including their sales sheets, pitch decks, and website.
Next, I worked with the team to create the individual gum packaging. These two piece foil packs measure 2x3 inches. I worked closely with the members of the Plova team to create a package that highlighted the gum's distinctive qualitites and struck a balance between health product and commercial gum.
Finally, I created two different sized boxes, which are displayed below. The small box holds 12 packs of Plova gum, and the larger box holds 48 pieces and has tear lines to create a display box.

Working with Pova has been extremely interesting as it has been the first time I've worked with packaging. As a designer who loves print, it was enjoyable to be pushed to think about the three-dimensionality and tactility of the products –how every angle can be perceived in different situations.
